About Me

My photo
Hey, I'm Jess I started this blog to show things I've made, fashion interests and outfits of my own. I would love to be a stylist when I'm older and am doing as much styling assistance at the moment to get me there. Thanks for looking. D.I.Y top transforming

So I got this top a while ago now from American Apparel however I completely deteste round necks that come up this far so I've never really worn it. Instead of chucking it out I cut it a bit to make it more wearable!

Here is a picture of the original top (forgot to take one of mine before cutting it!)

Firstly I cut the sleeves off by just following the stitching of where they were/

Next I drew a lower shaped neck-line with tailors chalk and cut round, making it a bit higher at the back.

Then I cut the armholes longer by just making a slit at the seam to just below the chest.

And there it is. By the way make sure you use good fabric scissors otherwise the edges will look horrible.

Winter loving.

Fearne Cotton's new collection for 'Very'

I had the great opportunity to dress the models at Fearne Cotton's show for her new womans wear collection in the Claridges ballroom (beautiful!)

Fearne, although very pregnant looked as stunning as ever! She wore a black ballroom gown with mesh sleeves.

The set was full of flowers and plants which reflected her collection which was full of flowery shift dresses, leopard print and lacey garments.
Love the colour of this plum jump-suit and the shape looks very wearable with a pair of stilettos.

Fearne used the new florescent trend using a pink stripe down some tapered trousers as well as using it as an underlay of a lace shirt.

A lot of the items were shift dresses which I loved the shape of, this one especially due to the dipped hem. On the left tapered flowery trousers and a peplum shaped top which personally isn't my style. Fearne is also wearing a piece from her collection which looks great on her, love the pattern, not so sure on colour way?

Backstage at show, the girls all had bee-hive styled hair and the atmosphere was great!

One of the models was Fearne's sister-in-law to be whom Fearne used as her inspiration for the collection wearing a light pink flamingo-style dress with a mesh upper insert.

Jaime and I had a lovely time and felt very fancy at Claridges. When we got out we were snapped by the paps alongside Professer Green who had been at the show.

Vogue Fashion Night Out

So my friends and I decided to go to fashion night out last Thursday which Jaime and I have been to for three years now. I forgot to take a picture of my outfit but I wore disco pants, my creepers and a plain gray jersey top and lastly my spiked jacket from New York which you can see in my previous post.

We started off in Topshop and listened to a DJ for a bit while we waited for everyone.

We then went to United colours of Benetton where they had orange cocktails and cider on offer...

Here's Aimee who my friend Jaime does assistance styling for as she was DJing there playing all the old bangers!
All in all it was a lovely evening and you can't not love being surrounded by lots of people passionate about the same thing as you!

My favorite outfits from the night

Alexa Chung in velvet cropped trousers with a white shirt and a long fur  jacket at the Mulberry party. Effortlessly chic as per usual, love the mixture of the textures.
Portia Freeman in all black wearing a leather jacket and leggings. Suki Waterhouse wearing a lovely knit jumper and my favorite part is the camo coat with leather panels at the Mulberry party.
Clara Paget in monochrome printed trousers and a matching cropped jacket with a small patent bag at the Mulberry party.

New York shopping

So on this post I'm going to show what I bought while I was in New York. Unfortunately I couldn't buy a lot because it wouldn't all fit in my suitcase!

Necessary clothing - http://www.necessaryclothing.com/
I saw this and instantly fell in love. It's a really interesting jacket with spiked shoulders, mesh sleeved and the main body is leather. My favourite part it the mesh bit at the bottom which has a zip so you can detach it if you want. I'd wear it with a plain vest, leggings or skinny jeans and plain shoes to show off the jacket.

Can't remember where it's from - sorry!
Although it's quite plain I just liked the colour and the contrast of the mesh and cotton.

Independent boutique in Soho
This is one of my favorite pieces as I'd been looking for a body chain in London for a while but could never find one I liked enough. It's a great way to accessorise an outfit and make more exiting.

Necklace - Forever 21
Feather and pearl necklace, just a nice necklace
to cheer up an outfit.
Belt - Independent boutique in Soho
I really liked this belt because of the skull and studs as well as the tan colour with the gold.

Buffalo vintage clothing
These 50's style sunglasses caught my eye in a vintage shop. I love the shape and the little sparkles on the sides.

Necessary clothing - http://www.necessaryclothing.com/
I fell in love with them as soon as I saw them and went to try them on and walked out of the shop empty handed because I knew they would be near impossible to walk in and I would have had to fit them in a suitcase but as I kept walking down Broadway my mind kept on going back to them so I ran back and got them! They are yes, very uncomfortable but I absoloutely love them. They are fake Jeffery Campbell's but they look so similar and were a fraction of the price of the real ones!

Independent boutique in Greenwich Village
I really loved the shape of the back of this shirt as it hangs really nicely and looks great with dark jeans and heels.

I also bought some make up that you can only buy in America and other little bits but these were my main buys.
As you can probably tell Necessary clothing was my favorite shop and literally loved everything in there. There were loads of them on Broadway and they have an online shop so get looking!

Hope you enjoyed the post x
